Targetting System and easier selling/buying
Please read this...it might look long, but I think my ideas are really well thought-out. And I can spell properly, and I used good punctuation, and spacing. I PROMISE!!!
First up, the targetting system.
Targetting System
I've been playing Guild Wars a lot more recently (I've racked up more hours over the past 7 days than I have since I got the game) and now I'm at parts where at times you're either surrounded by enemies or are about to charge at a group of enemies.
Now, when I'm attacking enemies, there's yellow flashes from my sword and meteors flying from the sky from the mages and exploding arrows and all that good stuff. This makes it very hard to see the moderatly small, brown and outlined in gold arrow, so naturally the Tab key comes in very handy for switching between targets, since I can't exactly click on them until I find the cursor.
But, for some reason or another, it seems as though the developers either decided to be lazy with this or it didn't work out quite how they planned.
I think of tab as trying to target the nearest enemy, but lots of the times, I'll be surrounded by a group of spiders, kill one, press tab, and end up targeting a centaur that's on the other side of my radar. Now I can easily press tab again, but then the targetting targets the next centaur in the group, and the next, until I finally reach the spider, and I'm poisoned and burning. Either that, or I move around the cursor until I finally see it, then click on the little spider target.
Especially when I'm surrounded by a group of higher level creatures, this can get quite messy.
I can see how this wouldn't effect, say, a monk or a mage as much, as they're usually standing behind the group of enemies, so they can generally use tab without targetting creatures on the other side of the radar because those guys aren't on there. And they can use spells on a single target that ends up harming them all. And these guys aren't so much affected by the bright yellow of my sword, and they aren't panicing because they've got 5 or 6 higher leveled people around them. You guys got it easy!
But for warriors, it's more like "omfg no don't target him no not him no wheres my cursor oh well *tab tab tab* finally!"
So, maybe some improvement on the targetting system could help.
Another thing regarding targetting, although not as major...targetting spirits. I understand that the spirits help the enemy gain more health and all that, but I don't remeber the last time I thought to myself "better take out that spirit-the centaur hunter has a better chance of hitting me!". When I target a spirit and don't realize when I'm surrounded by 5 or 6 centaur warriors/hunters/protectors, and end up spening some time killing the spirit, I get kind of annoyed. I even start taking out the spirit if I accidently target him, because I know if i don't, I'll end up re-targeting him over and over.
Ok...now that that's done with...
Easier Selling/Buying (yes...a longer read! Hooray for you guys!)
I'm all for an auction house. Nothing I'd want more than to go out and farm gold or play another game, or watch TV rather than saying "WTS Major Vigor Rune, whisper me your offer!" or "WTB Sword Pommel of Fortitude with at least +25Health, whisp me!", over and over again, waiting for my mesage to dissapear before I say it again, jumping from district 4 to district 15, but this might help if the devs are going to, for some reason, decide not to make an auction house at all, or if it might take them longer than we hope.
I think I saw this in WoW, when I used to play...or when I'm at my friends house, playing...but people are selling stuff, and when you mouse over the name, it tells you what it is, and all the stats of that item.
For example, if somebody says "WTS Boar Meat", the boar meat would be in diffrent colored text, or bold, and when you mouse over it it'd say something like "Regain 150 health over a period of 20 seconds." That way, you don't have to be messaging the person, asking him "what kind of mods does that storm bow have" or "what damage does that firey dragon sword do?", and the poor seller doesn't have to go back and keep checking (sure, his fault for not including info, but still...more on this later, and a little later.)
Now, in the small period of time I spent playing WoW (I'm 14, can't get a job yet, I can't pay the fees) I never once sold an item, so I don't know exactly how selling things work, but this is what I'm thinking for Guild Wars...
Either they can let you drag the item you want to sell into the "chat" bar, and it automatically appears (minus stats and stuff-say you're saying an icey storm bow of fortitude, it has +25 health, does 14-28 cold damage, and requires 12 marksmanship, it would just say "Icey StormBow of Fortitude", mousing over would give you stats) and is ready to sell as "Icey StormBow of Fortitude". You hit enter, and it shows this: "Sir Knight Guy: WTS Icey StormBow of Fortitude, whisper me."
(I said either because I was thinking devs could also make a right-click feature, where you right click the said item and options pop up, one being "sell" or something)
Now the buyer, who's saying to himself "Daaang, I wish I had an Icey StormBow of Fortitude that has +25 health and does 14-28 damage" sees your message, and instead of you having to deal with the whisper of some guy who wants to buy your item, look in your inventory, and type out "it has +25 health and does 14-28 damage" and THEN he asks you "what's the req on the bow" and you have to look again, and type "12" and then he says "lolzlzozlz ohez sorry i r noob i ndeed 2 marks sorrys lolz", the buyer will just mouse over it, and say "Whoops, silly me. I can't use this bow yet-I must first level more!"
This saves you time, and saves him time, and it makes his grammar/spelling acceptable. Win-win situation, eh?
This also saves valuable room in the trade window, because since the seller doesn't want to be bothered with people like "I R Noob", he ends up typing out the whole weapon name, with all the health and damage and armor and stuff, and his message takes up more room, and this will ultimatly lead to all of our DOOM! (remeber "more on this later" from before? told ya! )
And, of course, this saves the seller valuable time- he doesn't have to type "WTS Blah blah blah blah blah" he just has to go into his inventory, move the item from inventory to chat window (or right click, if you prefer), and hit enter, and he's done! (see, "and a little later.."? no more typing out mod names! told ya )
Now...you've completed my essay which was longer than most of my essays for school work, and better thought out, and more organized, and no messy handwriting, and the grammar has a slight chance of being better...and its 2:49AM right now...
What do you think? I'll gladly except any improvments on it, see what I missed on the two subjects I covered, hear your criticism, hear why you think why my ideas are horrible, and why warriors are horrible PvE characters and I should have never made my first character, and why my mother must be ashamed to call me her child...
But mostly improvments and criticism (constructive...). If you think my idea is horrible, tell me why...or you just wasted however long it took you to read through my essay of sorts, because if you say "ur ideas are liek totallyl ntot good @ al chek mine out they r rock" I'll ignore you. Liek totallyly.
ooh, and before I finish this thread, there's two things I'd like to add, so small they don't deserve a new thread..1st, jumping. Fun. Friends who are level 60s in WoW still enjoy jumping. Give us stuff to do while we walk. 2nd, pinging noises from missions. Bad enough that players spam them, but I've done a certain "Chosen One" bonus enough times for the 5 gold pinging dots to annoy me. Reduce the times a minute they happen. Heck kill the sound.
Please, leave your comments, I don't want this thread to go to waste.

Tab cycles targets. The cycle is generated when you select and enemy, either by a click, pressing "c" or whatever. The cycle is created then in order from closest to furthest target. So if you find you tab is sending you to far off targets, just hit 'c' to reset the cycle so you next few tabs will target closer enemies.

The targeting in GW drives me crazy. It's incredibly cumbersome and awkward.
Targeting features I would kill for:
1) Option to tab through targets only in your field of view.
If there are 5 mobs standing right in front of me, the chances are I want to target one of them... not cycle through the cluster of 30 non-aggro'd mobs 200 feet behind me, beyond a mountain range, on the very edge of my radar. In PvE, it's possible to get dozens of targets on your radar, which makes tabbing through targets utterly impossible.
2) Key map to toggle your last two targets.
3) Option to remove spirits from tab target cycling.
4) Option to remove pets and bone horrors from tab target cycling.
5) Option to prevent click-targeting of group members and pets in the 3D view. (I'll use the group window, thanks very much).

Meh. Could be useful, I find that "c" works well.

Yes! If I want to target them I can, but I'd like them removed from the general cycle!

Also a decent idea, if you could have this as another option (check box) I'd go for this sometimes.

Yes! Nothing is as frustrating as trying to click a creature and getting nothing but your party members, then having to click UNDER an enemy on it's name to start your targetting.
